1% Thursday: Get a Klean Kanteen
Get a Klean Kanteen, and drink fresh water out of it every day.
As concerns about certain types of plastic bottles began to hit the news, I looked at the water bottle I was using in horror. It fit the profile, and the way I was using it was apparently making matters worse.
So I began to research – what would keep my water pure, be easy to use, and be durable over the long term (yes, I’d rather actually reuse my water bottle instead of creating my own landfill, thanks!)?
The winner was the Klean Kanteen. Now that I’ve owned one over the long term, it’s still the winner. Doesn’t add “taste” to your water – keeps it tasting pure and clean. No chemicals seep in, even if you leave it in the hot car. You can throw ice cubes in there (they fit!) and make it really cold if you like your water that way (stays cold all day).
Dehydration can be a particular problem with migraine sufferers, and certain medications make matters worse. Having a water bottle on hand, wherever I go, means I can stay hydrated, and also I have clean water to take medication with in case of emergency.
(In case you’re wondering, I believe mine is the classic stainless steel brushed 27oz / 800ml with the sports lid. And no, I don’t make any commission by recommending their product. I just really like it!)
What is 1% Thursday?
Every Thursday at Headache and Migraine News (weather permitting) we’ll talk about one measurable, practical thing we can do to make our lives just 1% better. Usually it will be something very easy, sometimes it will be a challenge. Let us know if you try it, or share an idea of your own – and maybe a year from now we’ll see that things have really changed for the better!

Great tip! My husband and I love our Sigg bottles (they now come with a wider mouth so you can add ice), so maybe in the future we’ll try a Klean Kanteen. Not only is it a healthier alternative to plastic, it’s keeping more plastic bottles out of landfills.

The Klean Kanteen has a wide mouth for ice too – one reason I picked this brand. Nice to be able to quickly fill it up with ice if you want it to stay cold all day.

We have the Klean Kanteen products and love them. They are easy to washout because of the wide top. I got my granddaughter the sippee cup attachment. I love the variety of the Klean Kanteen.
