    Hey James,

I’m single and sleep alone. Here’s an idea I came up with for others to try to test for sleep apnea:

I bought a digital recorder from Walmart and taped it to my pillow a few nights in a row to record my breathing sounds. It recorded pretty well! Then, I simply listened to my breathing sounds on double speed the next day to see if I could hear anything unusual. I also noted if I had a migraine that next day.

I wasn’t able to hear anything unusual, so I think I’m okay, but I thought I’d share for others to try!

That’s one way to do it! Lacks the precision of the medical tests, but if you have more obvious sounding sleep apnea, that would do it. 🙂

I thought of another interesting connection after I recorded this – interestingly enough, a connection with my previous podcast on Chiari Malformation 1.

Sleep apnea actually is a common symptom of Chiari 1. So actually, if you have sleep apnea, that may be an additional sign of Chiari 1 if you have other symptoms. Something to think about!
