1% Thursday: Start to carefully read Food Labels
This week, start learning how to read food labels.
I know, these are supposed to be things that will make a "1%" difference. But I’ve said it before… if you’re not careful, some of these tips might just make a drastic difference in your health. Watch out – this is one of those things.
Really, this deserves more time than one post, but let’s get started. This past summer I spent time reading food labels in 3 countries. I’ll be frank – I was horrified. Food labels often hide more than they reveal. I don’t have to tell you they can be downright deceptive. But if you at least read them, carefully I mean, and I’m talking about the list of ingredients… you’ll be a step ahead.
There’s LOTS we could learn about reading labels. I was going to tell you more today, but this is what I’m going to do. For today, just start trying to read labels before buying. Look at the nutrition information, but also the list of ingredients. Then come back first thing Monday morning and I’ll give you some quick tips for interpreting what you’re seeing.
What is 1% Thursday?
Every Thursday at Headache and Migraine News (weather permitting) we’ll talk about one measurable, practical thing we can do to make our lives just 1% better. Usually it will be something very easy, sometimes it will be a challenge. Let us know if you try it, or share an idea of your own – and maybe a year from now we’ll see that things have really changed for the better!
