1% Thursday: Vitamin C
Talk to your doctor about taking a 500mg Vitamin C supplement.
Of course, we always recommend talking to your doctor before taking anything new! That being said, this would be a good one to try. She might recommend a different dosage, but 500mg is a good place to start.
Everyone knows vitamin C is good for you. The best thing you can do is eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. There’s a great deal of controversy about how much vitamin C supplements help, but the evidence in favour of vitamin C still has the attention of many doctors and researchers.
We’ve talked before about taking vitamin C before altitude changes. And if the extra supplement can keep the flu bug away just once, it will keep away some major head pain.
What is 1% Thursday?
Every Thursday at Headache and Migraine News (weather permitting) we’ll talk about one measurable, practical thing we can do to make our lives just 1% better. Usually it will be something very easy, sometimes it will be a challenge. Let us know if you try it, or share an idea of your own – and maybe a year from now we’ll see that things have really changed for the better!

Your posts always seem to say June 2009 at the top. I always close the tab when I see that. That is ancient by medical standards. Are you re-posting stuff from 2009, or does that indicate something else?

Hi Danielle!
This particular post is from 2009, yes. It is ancient. 🙂 I do post older posts along with newer ones. If they are of more “historical” interest, I will sometime write “from the archives…”. But others are still valid and useful, and even backed up by newer research. In that case, I’ll just post them as they are. Just click the banner to catch up on the newer posts – there are lots from 2020! 🙂
