    I use sunglasses inside. I can’t always go straight home from work so sunglasses do the trick until I get home. I’ve been known to wear them at night to block out the headlights also. Hope this helps.

    My hideout is my bedroom, I have a very thick blanket that blackouts any sunlight that might come in. I shut my door so no sunlight comes from other areas of my house. If I am out and about, I have sunglasses that doesn’t allow any direct sunlight to my eyes. I still see through the darkened lense and that is enough to get me to a darkroom. When I worked, if I got a migraine I would go lay down in a darkened office.

    I have terrible migraines and have to lie down in a cool, dark room! I wish i could find out what triggers the ones I have, but they come on for no reason and without a warning!

    I have to cover up my alarm clock with a shirt. I have a dark bedroom to retreat to. I have dark out curtains on both windows.

    I have “blackout” curtains. A little light seeps in at the top, but it’s an indirect glow.

    A good option no matter where you are is a sleep mask. You can use it at home and even keep a spare one in your purse, car, workplace, etc. I do recommend checking out how they’re made. Some just have elastic cords that look a bit flimsy, but I prefer them to the ones with a big band of elastic. The ones with the bigger bands tend to create too much pressure on an already painful head, and often have Velcro to make adjustments in size. The Velcro can tug on your hair, dig into your scalp, and make noise on your pillow.

      Sleep mask is great sharper image makes one that has paddi g on your brow bone and then udder your eyes so nothing is pressing down. This can also leave room icecubes in paper towels 🙂

    I go to my bedroom, put on a dark mask, and an ice pack on my head, and close my curtains.

    I throw double-layered fleece fabric over the curtains and blinds in the livingroom, then throw another fleece over my head as I curl up in my chair. The bedroom has no windows, so it is nice and dark…but it is prone to pick up any noise made by anyone in the building, which is not good when I’m also sound-sensitive.
    If I’m at work and it gets to that point, I have to leave. I have a wall of windows that I can’t cover adequately.

    I typically put a pillow over my head. Recently I found a product, Relax Wraps – http://shop.relaxwraps.com, that works double time to both block the light and do a little aromatherapy. I like the basic one over the eye wrap (which is too small, imo). I also like that if I feel like heat will help I can heat it up. Or if I’m needing to cool off, I can freeze it.

    My room is the darkest place that I have found to hide out while I have a migraine. There is a dark curtain over the window that blocks most of the light, for what little light there is I put a blanket over my eyes.

    I call my bedroom the “cave”. I have shades, sheers and blackout curtains on my windows. So when the migraine strikes I retreat to my bedroom. In fact, I am very light sensitive all the time. I don’t worry much about light sensitivity while driving or at work during a migraine because I can’t do either if I have a migraine.

    At home I have Burgundy room darkening blinds on all my windows, even the string holes are blocked. In the car or outside I have a pair of Cocoon sunglassed that fit over my reg. glasses and almost completely block the light. At work it is harder, can use the sunglasses but when it’s really bad I dampen a folded washcloth and lay that over my eyes. I try to stay inside on sunny days.

    Looks like most of us migraineurs have a room already prepared for darkness! I as well, have my windows in my bedroom blacked out, and I usually keep it very cool, during migraines. If I’m at work, I ususally go to this office that has no windows and turn the lights out, and lay my head on the desk… I live 40 minutes from home, and I’m scared to drive during the Aura times, being that I can’t see very well… I’ve had some scary times, trying to drive home, while I’m experiencing the onset.

    My 20 year-old son has constant migraines and I put black self-stick shelf paper on the windows in his room and the family room. That works well along with black-out drapes.

    As a teacher who gets migraines, I have no choice but to deal with it during the day. I can only hope for the best with keeping a supply of Excedrin in my desk and Diet Cokes in my mini-fridge (caffeine) along with a small aromatherapy pillow for my neck/back of head in the fridge too in case it’s really bad. I keep the lights dim in my classroom and just remind the kids to keep their voices at a lower level. Once I was really sick to my stomach because of it and got sent home. I’m hoping the prescription stuff I’m now on will make this upcoming school year more tolerable. Otherwise, I have to suck it up :-\

    My dark room has black curtains; a pity really because I have a seaview from my window and I rarely look out. I don’t change my bedlinens regularly because the smell of washing soap could trigger a headache. In addition to the black curtains, I wear dark glasses; those that fit snugly around my eyes. I also have hearing protection earmuffs to drown out the noise from outside. Ice packs are a must, really. Sometimes I use the frozen peas pack or the French beans pack because they feel nice on my nape 🙂 Granting I feel well the next day, they are served at dinnertime.

    I have curtains, but they don’t completely darken the room. I use a scarf wrapped around my head, covering my eyes to keep out the light. That usually does the trick.
