Nausea – still a Major Migraine Problem
And now, the results of our most recent poll… the question was, If you have migraine, do you also normally experience nausea during an attack?
As you can see, an overwhelming 71% said yes, with only 11% saying no.
There are various ways that migraineurs fight nausea. The most important, of course, is not to fight the symptom alone but to fight migraine first. A good migraine treatment will, of course, deal with the nausea as well.
Sometimes medications help, both meds for migraine and meds specific to nausea (Zofran, for example).

I’ll often be nauseous for several days, and never even get head pain. Nausea is my constant companion.

I do not get migraines but members of my family do. I have been working with Ayurveda for some time and have discovered that many illnesses relate to imbalances in the body.
Of course some people have a hereditary predisposition to get migraines which lifestyle cannot necessarily prevent, but balancing health practices can help minimize if not eliminate the issue.
My focus is highly sensitive people who frequently have migraines, but Ayurveda works for everyone. You can find more information here. http://www.hsp-stress-relief.com/migraines.html .

Don’t forget a related symptom, vertigo (dizziness, or a spinning sensation).
Reglan is not just for kids, it can help adults as well. A similar but safer medication is called domperidone. Try taking it as soon as a migraine starts, then wait 10-15 minutes before taking your triptan. The domperidone can help your triptan work more effectively.
Also, if a migraine goes on longer then a day, dehydration and low blood sugar can keep the pain and nausea going. It’s really important to take at least sips of fluid with a little sugar and some electrolytes during that first day.
