Much of this page is wrong: LED bulbs do flicker, some of them quite badly. Avoid light dimmers like the plague — they cause terrible flicker. It may be best to stick with incandescent bulbs if you have migraines.

i work in a school in NYC. The subway ride to work has fluorescent lights. Then my school is lined with fluorescent lights, and they shine bright in my classroom.

One year I used only lamps with CFLs…which now I realize only made things worse. Other than try LEDs in lamps, what can I do for the rest of the school building??

This article is not correct at all. LED’s flicker the most. They are the worst light to own and they are terrible for your health. Alexander Wunsch has talked a great deal about the health issues associated with using LED lights. Alexander Wunsch is probably one of the greatest experts we have right now when it comes to using artificial lights.

I concur with Gordon. Very poor, potentially deceptive information on flicker here. Most CFLs in the US were equipped with electronic ballasts built into the base, and because of their high frequency operation, did not produce detectable flicker. (The situation in the EU is possibly different.) Some LED products are excellent in terms of flicker, and then there are others that are just horrid. Compatibility with dimmers is a huge issue, such that the lamp may not flicker at full output, but dimming it introduces flicker.
