The Migraine World Summit for Newbies.
With 1.2 million visitors in 195 countries, it’s easy to think that everyone knows what the Migraine World Summit is all about, and how to be involved. But when you think of it, 1.2 million is a pretty small number when you think about the many migraine patients who still have not been a part of it.
So today we’ll take a step back with a brief intro and a “how to” for newbies – hopefully there will be thousands of newbies this year!
What?
The Migraine World Summit is “the leading international patient event for people living with migraine and headache”. In order to be truly open and global, it has always been online (though sometimes with in-person events) and free (with a resource library which can be purchased).
For a week or so, experts from around the world are interviewed to bring patients the latest cutting-edge migraine and headache information. You will be given a program, so that you can decide what to watch (or listen to). Some topics will be more relevant to your situation.
Why?
In the past three years, migraine treatment has changed significantly. In the past year, the world has changed and migraine patients have many new concerns. The Migraine World Summit is an opportunity to get caught up not only on the latest research, but also the latest practical tips to help yourself and those you love (yes, the summit is open to family and friends of migraine patients as well!).
The summit also supports non-profits and advocates, and helps to show policy-makers, researchers, and governments that migraine research needs to be a priority (which is why I always ask that you have your family and friends register for free, even if they’re not sure they can attend. Just registering shows your support for the fight against migraine and headache!).
How?
Let me give you this helpful information directly from the folks at the summit:
How it works:
- Register: Secure your spot via email registration. Once you’ve registered, you’ll have free access to the Summit.?
- Watch: Each day of the Summit you’ll receive a new link to the day’s sessions with international experts, which you can access for free from 3:00 pm ET (New York time) for the next 24 hours. You can watch the Summit from any computer or mobile device that supports video.
- Learn: Discover what top doctors really do for migraine and headache. You’ll hear from global leaders in the field including doctors, specialists, researchers, psychologists, and patient advocates.
I would add that you also have the option to purchase the Migraine World Summit library of material, which includes not only videos and transcripts of all interviews, it also includes a lot of additional up-to-date information about new treatments, resources, and tips.
When?
17-25 March 2021
Where?
As you know, it’s online. You can register for free access right now! If you register today, you’ll receive updates about what is coming (I think there still may be some surprises to be released!), so that you can decide what to watch.
