It’s important not to immediately panic about this. The risk of cervical artery dissection (CAD for short) in the general population is 2.6 per 100,000. That means the risk for migraineurs, generally, is 5.2 per 100,000, or 0.0052%. From what I have read, however, CADs are present in 20% of young stroke victims (under 40 years of age), and are thus possibly present in a much higher percentage of young migraineurs who are also stroke victims.

As ever, if you have exceptional pain–far and away worse than what you usually get–seek treatment.
