And just for fun, I’m going to highlight a popular older article that you might have missed (“from the archives”). This one from 2018:
The “10-Second Tension Headache Remedy” – At least a couple of articles have been circulating promoting a tension headache remedy that is quick, and free. And certainly worth a try.
Last week we looked at the most popular articles from the past year. Now it’s time to dig into the archives and see what was popular in 2020, but written in past years. So here’s what we’re still talking about!
So we’re going to break these up into 5 categories. First, one odd little post is still getting clicks…
History
Coca-Cola and Migraine – An actual discussion of soda/pop and migraine is below. This was just an interesting note from the history books.
Science
Migraine and Histamine – This two parter is the most popular this year. We’re still trying to understand the connection between migraine and histamine, and how we can use this knowledge to stop attacks. Part 2 here.
Symptoms and Warning Signs
It’s very important to watch for symptoms so that we can get the best treatment possible. Here’s what guests to Headache and Migraine News were most concerned about:
Is Stevia giving me a Migraine Attack? – Artificial sweeteners have always been a big topic here, and two posts in particular got a lot of attention this year. That one on Stevia, but also Can Sorbitol cause Migraines? In this category, it’s the artificial sweeteners that had the most attention this year.
What are all those people doing, you ask? Well, they’re looking for useful information at Headache and Migraine News, of course!
But the question is – what are their favourite articles?
Well, it’s time to find out which were the all time top articles of 2020. Next week we’ll look at the top articles of all time (not including this year. Because some of you would rather not include this year!).
First, in the unusual and alternative treatments and migraine-fighters category (catchy title, no?) –
The Humble Tennis Ball, and Headache – Why do I have a tennis ball in a drawer in my bedroom, you ask? Well, because it’s a surprising headache fighter! Here are some tips, links, and other ideas to try.
Eyestrain? Seriously, Try Iris Now. – Yes, eyestrain was the name of the game in 2020. Fed up, many people are trying out Iris to give their eyes a break, and to get better sleep and of course cut down on migraine and headache attacks.
A Green Lamp for Migraine? – Yes, believe it or not, the Allay Lamp was kind of a big deal in 2020. And yes, Allay is now on Amazon too, and getting good reviews. This was the top post in this category in 2020!
Next, sorry to say, the COVID-19 category. We did talk about it from various angles, but these two posts did make it into the greatest hits –
COVID-19 Headache – Yes, it’s a thing, so we’d better talk about it here. Here’s what you can expect with COVID-19 in the achy head department.
Ok, now that that’s over with, it will be no surprise that the most popular category at all was in the CGRP related drugs category! They’ve gotten a lot of press, especially over the past two or three years. Here’s what you read the most in 2020 –
CGRP Medication Side Effects – “I hadn’t thought of that…” – It’s very important to be aware of the side effects of new medications you’re taking. But some of us need an excuse to stop and think about what we may be experiencing. This article is your excuse.
CGRP Drugs and Weight Gain – Is this an issue? As you might guess with new meds, the information is still sparse. But reports are coming in.
Introducing Nurtec for Migraine – Approved in March, maybe this medication should get the “bad timing” award – bad timing because its entrance into the market was crowded out of the health headlines by … well, other things. But – our readers found it! This time, an abortive and fast-acting new med for migraine.
Thanks again for reading and sharing! It continues to be a privilege to get useful, clear and accurate information out to you. I hope that something you’ve read has kept the headaches and migraine attacks far away.
Next week we’ll look at some highlights from past years – maybe you’ll find another helpful nugget that will make next year better!
